Basketball: Blazers' Lillard left in limbo by Warriors’ wall of defense

Green Warriors beat Blazers for 3-0 lead in West finals

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State Warriors - 5/20/19 NBA - Playoffs Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Should he shoot with reckless abandon, or continue to entrust his team mates to try and take advantage of the scoring opportunities presented by the Warriors?Golden State's strategy has turned Lillard from a cold-blooded shooter to a cautious deliberator while the reigning National Basketball Association champions have grabbed a 3-0 best-of-seven series lead.

After all, it was Green's suspension in Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers that served as a crucial turning point in Cleveland's historic comeback from a 3-1 series deficit. They can sweep the series with a win in Portland on Monday. Damian Lillard, relentlessly double-teamed by Warriors, added 19 points. Had a double-digit lead in Game 3, let that one slip away as well. The Warriors outscored the Trailblazers 29-13.

After trailing 66-53 at the half, the Warriors mounted a third-quarter comeback to lead 82-79 going into the fourth.

Lillard tried to find easier looks on Saturday by attacking before Golden State set its defense.

Last night, Draymond Green played arguably the best game of his career. Rewinding the game a bit, Green was the key factor in the second quarter, pushing the action at the offensive end of the court, while the Blazers were making their first-half run. Lillard played just under 40 minutes and finished with 19 points on 5-of-18 shooting from the field and 3-of-9 shooting from three, six rebounds, six assists and two steals, which would hardly qualify as a "bad" game for most players. Off the bench, Kevon Looney, Jordan Bell, and Alfonzo McKinnie played key roles, filling the void for the injured Kevin Durant (calf).

It appears Golden State will take its first shot at the series-clinching win without Andre Iguodala, who experienced pain in his left Achilles during Saturday's 110-99 win in Portland.

"I don't even know what to say about Draymond", said coach Steve Kerr.

TOP PERFORMERS: Damian Lillard is scoring 25.8 points per game and averaging 4.6 rebounds for the Trail Blazers.
