The parent company of Tim Hortons, Burger King and Popeyes now has about 26,000 restaurants. The five-year outlook for growth in the global burger market is expected to be 5% annually, with growth in the global coffee and chicken markets expected to be 6% annually, according to the company.
RBI has grown its restaurant base from about 12,000 in 2010 to almost 26,000 today, with sales from rising from $15bn (£11.7bn) to more than $32bn (£24.9bn).
"We very much look forward to seeing the response to our campaign", the company said. These independently operated brands have been serving their respective guests, franchisees and communities for over 45 years.
The chain said it would be testing Beyond Meat's breakfast sausage on the Beyond Meat Vegan Sandwich, Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwich and the Beyond Meat Farmers Breakfast Wrap.
If the test market confirms a demand for vegan options at Tim Hortons, the company plans to launch a national rollout by the end of summer.
System-wide sales at the three chains have more than doubled to $32 billion annually since 2010. Macedo also stated that they were pretty much excited to be partnering with the leading plant-based meat substitute producer in the world for their new menu items.
