Making their ninth appearance in the NCAA tourney, the Hokies (45-9, 20-4 ACC) will play from Friday-Sunday, along with Toledo (29-26, 10-9 MAC) and IL (32-23, 9-14 B1G). It's the first home regional for the Gophers since 2014.
Right fielder Maddie Houlihan said Minnesota was beaming with pride after learning its NCAA tournament. After the draw was announced, pitcher Meghan King said the Seminoles are going to need more of the home crowd juice again come Friday. "We're so proud to represent this school and represent this state".
If Minnesota beats North Dakota State, it will face the victor of the Drake and Georgia matchup on Saturday.
For the third consecutive season, all 13 teams from the SEC received a bid to the NCAA Tournament, with Florida, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee and Kentucky joining Ole Miss as regional hosts. We competed against the best of the best.
