Drawing in more than 3 million players during its open beta on PC, Dauntless will launch with a range of improvements and content updates from said beta. The free-to-play monster hunting game arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 21, 2019.
With developer Phoenix Labs including staffers from other famed developers such as Riot Games, Blizzard, Bioware and Capcom to name just a few, it should come as little surprise that Dauntless embraces a synergy of inspiration from titles such as Dark Souls and World of Warcraft as rigidly as it adheres to the Monster Hunter template.
Cross-Progression (known as Cross-Save in the PlayStation community) will be enabled across PS4, Xbox One, and PC on launch, but Cross-Play will be limited to Xbox One and PC for now. Keep in mind, the PC version will only be available through the Epic Games Store. Here, you can earn additional experience, unlock achievement and reep new rewards.
Those frugal gamers that are looking for something new to play next week will be in luck, as the free-to-play Dauntless will launch on May 21st. Developers Pheonix Labs are also planning to bring the game to the Switch and mobile devices in the future.
To celebrate, Phoenix Labs is releasing the new Hunt Pass Season 5: Hidden Blades which offers up new gear and content as the in-game world is transformed into a Moon Blossom Festival. This includes the new Mastery System that which provides a mastery card for each unique weapon and behemoth. The pass costs $10 and features 50 levels players can work through that reward cosmetics and premium currency.
"Slayers can also look forward to a massive campaign rework", according to a press release. Expect new expansions, adventures, deadly Behemoths and more - all on a regular basis and all free-to-play.
