Andre Burakovsky takes the hot lap for Capitals before Game Four By Elizabeth Kong  0 Comment

When TJ Oshie went down with an upper-body injury after Warren Foegele cross checked him into the boards, the Capitals worked quickly to bring Devante Smith-Pelly back to DC.

Foegele, who scored Carolina's first goal of the game in a 2-1 win, crosschecked Oshie into the boards late in the game.

Oshie stayed down on the ice for several minutes and left soon after holding his shoulder and arm area.

Caps coach Todd Reirden was furious after the game and said Oshie would be out for "quite some time".

Oshie and Kempny were key-pieces to the Capitals' Stanley-Cup run last postseason, and missing them makes it much more hard for the Caps to go back-to-back. Washington will need to get their offense rolling and lean even more so on Alex Ovechkin in this spot if they're going to regain the series lead and snap their mini 2-game slide. Svechnikov didn't play in Game 4 as a result of an injury suffered during the fight, and many stated that Ovechkin ought not to have participated in the bout.

Foegele explained: "I was trying to lift his stick, trying to give him a little nudge. I hope he's OK". "It's an extremely risky play and [Oshie] will not be with our team for a while".

It remains unclear whether Foegele will face supplementary decision, but with the series tied at two games apiece, it seems eminently possible that both clubs will be looking to amplify their physical play with a second-round berth on the line. He missed 12 games during the regular season as he dealt with symptoms from a concussion.
