Emery seems to have Arsenal heading in the right direction once again and most supporters are convinced he is the right man to restore the club to its former glory.
"So when the possibility opened up to sign here, the first coach, the first person in the football world I called was him", Emery said of Gracia.
"I asked some questions about the football here, the clubs, Arsenal, and he recommended to me that I come here".
"I also met with (Manchester City midfielder) David Silva in Valencia a year ago and he said to me, "Coach, if you can, come to England, it is the best football and the best atmosphere for you also". We spoke about football here, English football and their experience because they were here six months before us.
"They are my friends, not only Javi Gracia but also his assistant Zigor Aranalde and Inigo Arteaga". Yes, it's much better, the coach is relaxed, we know that when we have to train, we train, but when the training ends, we relax, we laugh.
Emery continued: "For example, we had dinner, their coaches and our coaches, one day in St Albans in September".
Emery has never lost to Gracia as a coach and got the better of his friend earlier this season when Arsenal won 2-0 against the Hornets at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners take on Watford on Monday night in the Premier League, as Arsenal look to go level on points with Chelsea in the race for the top four, but if it wasn't for Gracia's advice, Emery may not have been in the dugout at all.
Arsenal are now at sixth position in the Premier League, albeit with a game's advantage over Manchester United. "It's very important to the whole team".
"They are very hard teams to battle because defensively they are very strong and this is now at Watford".
'I think we are showing we are competitive and have a good mentality.
'This team have a good mentality and they are improving, we are improving and the table is giving us this answer - we are improving.
