If this report is to be believed, Keighley says that West will now work with Epic in the pursuit of developing new games. With co-founder of Infinity Ward and Respawn Entertainment Jason West working with the company.
Epic Games has been flexing its financial muscle fueled by the wildly successful Fortnite battle royale game. Geoff Keighley broke the news via Twitter. The first is that West has not worked in the games industry for around six years.
West left the company not long after he and Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella settled their lawsuit with Activision. Still, take it as unconfirmed until official word comes out of Cary, North Carolina. He's now at Epic Games, working on the company's game development efforts. It was not clear whaat Jason West was set to do after leaving Respawn. Epic Games does not have any officially announced games in development beyond their current work on Fortnite and the Epic Games store. Fortnite has become an global news story because of its popularity, with Grammy-award winning musicians, and star athletes all loving the game. The series introduced a unique mechanic where players could summon giant mechs, while at the same time improving on the traversal mechanics they first developed in the more modern Call of Duty games.
Making another game that successful could be hard, not least because Fortnite followed and capitalized a trend set by another game. Epic will continue to make more games in the future, but with West tagging along, who knows what'll come out next?
