Thibaut Courtois Dropped By Zinedine Zidane On His Return To Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Zidane: I will count on Isco

Zinedine Zidane drops Thibaut Courtois but recalls Gareth Bale and Isco

Since Mourinho left Manchester United in December 2018, he has been linked with a return to Real Madrid with reports saying he could be appointed this summer.

Real Madrid's French coach Zinedine Zidane smiles during a press conference at the Valdebebas training facilities in Madrid on March 15, 2019.

Gareth Bale was also named in the starting line-up at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday as Madrid launched their new era under Zidane at home to Celta Vigo in La Liga.

Zidane made his mark by making changes to the Los Blancos starting XI for his 150th game in charge of the club, including Keylor Navas in place of Thibaut Courtois, and starting the much maligned Isco.

With the club 12 points behind league leaders Barcelona and five points behind second-placed Atletico Madrid, Zidane has been tasked with restoring the club to its former glory.

Zidane left the Spanish club past year after winning the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League title beating Liverpool in the final in Kiev.

But with nothing left to play for this season and morale at an all time low, Zidane has brought all three of them back into the side for his first game in charge.
