Iowa is out of the Big Ten tournament after losing to MI 74-53.
The Wolverines, who lost their share of the Big Ten title after losing to Michigan State last weekend, did have a bye until the quarterfinals. Third-seeded MI hit seven threes in the half, while Iowa made zero. When he exited the game, Simpson had 11 points, 11 assists, four rebounds and two steals. A 27-23 Wolverine advantage turned into 40-27. Iowa got within 11 early in the second half, but 3-pointers by Brazdeikis and Brooks helped extend the lead and MI ran away with it from there. This, a night after the Hawkeyes were 12 of 23 from deep in a second-round win over IL.
3-point shooting has been a key statistic for MI basketball all season and against the Hawkeyes, UM knocked down 10 treys, with Ignas Brazdeikis, Eli Brooks, Jordan Poole and Zavier Simpson all hitting two each.
