Dubbed the "Kaepernick Icon Jersey", the all-black uniform features No. 7, the number Kaepernick wore as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
"We believe Colin Kaepernick is one of the most inspirational athletes of this generation, who has leveraged the power of sport to help move the world forward", Nike's Sandra Carreon-John told USA Today. A product page for the Kaepernick jersey said it is sold out and now unavailable for orders. "The jersey marks Nike's continued product collaboration with Colin, and will be available for a limited time on Nike.com and the Nike App".
There are those who still dislike Kaepernick for shining a light on issues of racial injustice and will continue to denigrate him.
Despite Nike's hint that Kaepernick remained true to himself, some have criticized the former quarterback for getting millions after signing a confidentiality agreement to remain silent about the details of the settlement.
In September, Kaepernick became the face of Nike's 30th anniversary "Just Do It" campaign. Nike, however, has reported a major increase in sales in the wake of the ad.
