Michelle Obama’s Mom Doesn’t Think She’s a ‘Real Star’ in Funny Text Convo

One can nearly imagine the playful smirk on Shields' face here; not only did Obama appear alongside little known stars like Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, and Jada Pinkett Smith, but she received the loudest applause from the crowd.

Obama, 55, made a surprise appearance on the Grammys stage Sunday and gave her mother a heads up to tune in - or so she thought.

Michelle took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a amusing text exchange between herself and her mother, Marian Shields Robinson, following her GRAMMY appearance.

Mrs Obama made a surprise appearance on stage at the awards on February 10, alongside Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez and host Alicia Keys.

In the texts, her mother asks if she met "any of the real stars".

She added: "And I Am A real star...by the way..."

It doesn't matter how famous, successful or presidential you are - mothers will always find a way to humble you, as Michelle Obama was reminded on Sunday.

"And I am a real star ... by the way ..."

"I told you I was going to be on it". Music shows us that all of it matters - every story within every voice, every note within every song.

Her daughter asked mum if she had watched.

Robinson, who lived with the Obamas during their White House years, shares a close relationship with her daughter.

I would think all Shields needs to know about Obama's celebrity status is that she is BFFs with Beyoncé.

'She had a stream of people. "#TextsFromMom", the former first lady captioned the screenshot.

'When I traveled internationally, grandma was there.

'I mean, you think about my girls were being driven around in a motorcade of three cars with at least four grown adults with guns in each of those cars.
