St. Vincent Dua Lipa 2019 Grammy Awards Performance

Dua Lipa’s Grammys Look Is Just as Electric as Her Nominated Single

St. Vincent won for Best Rock Song for her album's title track "Masseducation", and Dua Lipa for Best New Artist.

"Thank you so much, I meant to begin by saying how honoured I am to be nominated alongside so many incredible female artists", said Lipa, who was put forward for the category celebrating 2017 and 2018's biggest breakout musicians alongside five other women artists.

Dua is also up for Best New Artist, make sure to tune in at 8pm ET/5pm PT on CBS to see if she takes home the award! "I think do you girl as long as you do you and I do me will be good", she said.

The comment was seen as a jibe at Neil Portnow, the Grammys president, who drew criticism past year when he responded to comments about the lack of female winners by saying that women needed to "step up".

Asked about 21's situation backstage at the Grammys 2019, Dua said she finds it "upsetting, given that he hasn't actually done anything".

"Being in the New Artist category and having so many female artists nominated is a big change".

Following the translated dig by Lipa, Portnow took the Grammy stage later in the night to address diversity, inclusion and what the future holds as his tenure comes to a close.

Dua also picked up a Grammy for best dance recording for Electricity, a collaboration with Silk City that features Diplo and Mark Ronson.
