The singer tweeted well wishes to her fellow artists at the award show but said she was at home taking care of her sick daughter.
Grande later clarified that she was not dismissing Cardi's work, but was more upset that Miller wasn't honored posthumously-especially because the Recording Academy had invited his family to the ceremony.
Pete has since been spotted holding hands with Kate Beckinsale in Los Angeles while Ariana released an album seemingly dedicated to her life without Davidson titled, Thank U, Next.
Ariana Grande, 25, was not in attendance at the star-studded Grammy Awards 2019 in Los Angeles but she appeared to be take aim at the awards after her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller lost out to the award for Best Rap Album to Cardi B. As Cardi B was announced the victor, Ariana published a series of expletive-laden tweets which were soon deleted, including one saying "literal bull****". "It's like I'm the universe and you be N-A-S-A", Grande sings.
The 25-year-old added to another: "She's not at all and that's not what I meant and u know that". "I guess it was a surprise", he said. "In my relationship [with Pete] at the time, things were like up and down and on and off, and so I didn't know what was going to happen and then we got back together, so I had to make a different version of it, and then we broke up again, so we ended up going with that verse". "It was when my creativity and self-expression [were] stifled by you that I decided not to attend".
The core of the dispute appears to be all over song choice.
This is Grande's first Grammy.
Ariana is nominated for two awards at the prestigious music event - Best Pop Vocal Performance for God Is a Woman and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener.
