Will Smith's Genie Is the Star of the New 'Aladdin' Trailer

Will Smith Makes His Debut As The Hot Genie In New 'Aladdin' Teaser

Needless to say, the Genie became a meme upon arrival, swarming the Internet like the sizzling magma within the Cave of Wonders.

Disney granted fans a sneak peek Sunday night at its upcoming live-action "Aladdin" movie during commercial break for the 61st annual Grammy Awards.

Aladdin (Mena Massoud) meets the larger-than-life blue Genie (Will Smith) in Disney's live-action adaptation Aladdin, directed by Guy Ritchie. "Your life begins now..."

"You really don't know who I am?"

The first trailer of the film debuted in October 2018, though fans only got a quick look at Aladdin and his famous lamp.

He's blue, and honestly, it looks good. "Genie? Wishes? Lamp? None of that ringin' a bell?"

Viewers weren't shy about expressing their shock on social media, with many revealing they were disappointed with how Genie turned out, and some even drawing comparisons to Paul Giamatti's character in Big Fat Liar.

The 50-year-old actor appeared in his Genie costume - which was published on the cover of Entertainment Weekly in December - but this time, entirely blue, seemingly with some CGI effects.

The "Aladdin" reboot hits theaters May 24. See why Smith told ET he was "terrified" to take on the character in the video below.
