Today's announcement follows months of controversy concerning the performance.
Atlanta native and OutKast rapper Big Boi will also join for the Halftime Show.
The gig marks Scott's most high-profile performance to date, capping off an incredible year that saw him get a No. 1 album with Astroworld, multiple radio hits like "Sicko Mode" and a tour that had superstars like Beyonce, JAY-Z, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West in attendance.
Travis Scott performs at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on September 23, 2017 in Las Vegas.
More than 84 000 have signed an online petition urging Maroon 5 to withdraw from the Super Bowl "until the league changes their policy and support players' constitutional right to protest".
"I back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in", Scott said in a statement.
"I think he should do what a lot of other major artists have done: say 'I'm not going to participate.' You can't fight against Jim Crow and then go sit in the back of the bus", the 64-year-old activist added. Scott himself donated $500,000 to Dream Corps.
Maroon Five and Big Boi marked the occasion by sharing his excitement via Twitter.
Scott recently performed on a song with Migos rapper Quavo called "Huncho Jack" that references Kaepernick: "Take a knee like the 'Niners (Kaepernick) /Join the team, don't divide us (join them)", the line goes. In addition, local artists like Ludacris and Lil Jon will feature prominently at the Bud Light shows held on the weekend of the game.
