Cheap phones are a dime a dozen these days, especially in India, so it'll be interesting to see how Samsung will battle Xiaomi's new Redmi sub-brand and other competitors like Asus and RealMe to regain the top spot in the Indian smartphone market this year.
Samsung's mobile phone sales in India touched 373.5 billion rupees ($5.3 billion) in the 12 months to end-March 2018, according to regulatory filings sourced by paper.vc, a business intelligence platform. "That's a significant jump in our online part", said Asim Warsi, senior vice-president, Samsung India.
What's more the official page has a firm launch date for the new Galaxy M phone - January 28. As per reports, Samsung will first be launching the Galaxy M10 and M20 phones first and Galaxy M30 will be announced later. The Galaxy M series smartphones will be available on Amazon.in, as well as on Samsung's own online store.
The move to launch the Galaxy M series in India first could be related to the company's falling market share in the country. Inside, it is expected come with Exynos 7885 CPU with 3GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, 13MP+5 MP dual camera on the back, an 8MP snapper on the front and a massive 5000mAh battery, which will be more than enough to keep the phone running for more than one-and-half day under mixed usage. The word on the street is that Samsung might launch the Galaxy M30 as well on January 28. Samsung M10 is expected to have 3500 mAh battery.
