HBO has released the first Game of Thrones Season 8 trailer, offering our first look at footage from the final season of the most popular series in the pay cable network's history. In over one-minute long teaser video, we get to see how Jon Snow, Sansa and Arya Stark walk through the crypts of the Winterfell.
Jon Snow passes the tomb of Lyanna Stark, who he thinks was his aunt but is actually his mother.
That means that right before the premiere launches at 9 p.m. EST, HBO will announce the official Game of Thrones season 8 premiere date. They then come upon memorial statues of themselves as the crypt begins to turn icy cold, presumably as the Night King nears.
Winter is coming to scorch the TV screens as "Game of Thrones" returns for one last time on April 14 with its eighth season. A small feather is blown out of her stony hands and rests onto the floor while Lyanna's voice can be heard saying: "You must protect him".
As they stop at the end of the tunnel, they are faced with three statues that look almost identical to them.
This final season of the long-running series will be six episodes long, as opposed to its previous standard 10 episode seasons. The reaction I had while watching them was, 'I'm watching a movie, '"HBO CEO Richard Plelper reportedly told guests at a 2019 Golden Globes afterparty". They've exceeded the bar.
Season 7 ended with Jon finally crossing paths with his aunt, Daenerys Targaryen. And although the flagship series is ending, the network has multiple projects set in the Game of Thrones universe now in development.
