Directors for these episodes include: Miguel Sapochnik, who directed the iconic "Hardhome" and "Battle of the Bastards" episodes as well as "The Winds of Winter"; David Nutter, who directed the episodes "The Rains of Castamere" and the final two Season 5 episodes "The Dance of Dragons" and "Mother's Mercy"; and Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B.

For months the only information about Thrones' eighth and final season premiere was that it would be sometime in April, but now, along with a brand new trailer, we have a clear date and can start counting down in earnest.

The premiere date was unveiled in a new teaser trailer, which aired prior to tonight's season three debut of True Detective. Second, it means the entire season will be eligible for the 2019 Emmy Awards, where it will undoubtably dominate the winners list. Meanwhile, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Jon were busy having incestuous sexy times on their journey back to Winterfell after securing a fake truce from Cersei (Lena Headey). Hopefully, Bran can make it to the Stark family reunion because as every Game of Thrones fan knows, people you love tend to die.
