Grandfather insists teen didn't know kidnapper

Jayme Closs: Suspect named in kidnapping and murder case

Man detained after girl (13) found alive three months after parents' murder

After the killings, Jayme was taken to a remote property near the small town of Gordon and is in the process of telling police how she managed to escape.

Jake Patterson is in custody on two charges of first degree intentional homicide in the deaths of Jayme's parents and one count of kidnapping.

The 13-year-old's parents-Denise Closs, 46, and James Closs, 56-were found murdered in their Wisconsin home on October 15.

Investigators have said Patterson's goal was to kidnap Jayme, but he appears to have no connection to the family. To Closs's luck, Jeanne had experience for the situation: she is a retired social worker.

"He didn't know Jayme, he didn't know (her parents) Denise or Jim", Naiberg said.

Authorities have said they don't believe Patterson crossed paths with Jayme's parents there.

"We have recovered a gun consistent with what was used at the scene of the initial homicide", said the sheriff. "(Jayme) don't know him from Adam.

"It's a bad feeling when you don't know where your kid is but I don't know how I would react if I was to have mine walk through that door".

The investigation suggested that the suspect didn't know any family members at the home, nor had he been in touch with them, but allegedly went there with the objective of kidnapping the teen, Fitzgerald said.

Roseanna Marie Forcum last was seen in St. Paul in 1998 when she was 15.

The Patterson family moved to Gordon about 15 years ago and Jake and Erik were raised there and attended Minong High School, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Authorities are now giving her time to settle into her new home before they question her again, the sheriff added.

The development was sealed off by police Saturday, preventing reporters from knocking on neighbors' doors. He graduated in 2015. The Journal Sentinel reported Saturday that he wrote in a school yearbook about his plan to join the U.S. Marine Corps following graduation, but The Associated Press has been unable to confirm if he followed through.

"The fact that Jayme did what she did and got out is unbelievably awesome", said the woman at the cafe.

"She [Closs] just yelled, 'Please help me, I don't know where I am". He worked for one day in 2016 at the same Jennie-O turkey plant in Barron as Jayme's parents. It's unknown what he has done for a living since then.

"She is doing great", Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told "Anderson Cooper Full Circle".

The suspect has no apparent online presence. But he has kept a low profile.

Kristin and her husband Peter Kasinskas described to the Minneapolis Star Tribune the experience of seeing Jayme on their doorstep.

Patterson's older brother was convicted of sexual assault in 2013, but only a handful of people in Gordon have heard of his family.

Both the woman and the neighbour recognised the teen immediately on Thursday due to the enormous public campaign following her disappearance, Fitzgerald said.

One of the businesses closest to the development is J&K's Halfway House Bar and Grille.

Detectives will keep talking to Jayme, but at her own pace, to get more details to help in their investigation.
