The Athletic surveyed 85 defensive players across 25 teams, and 81 of those said Kaepernick deserved to be in the NFL.
Despite leading the San Francisco 49ers to two NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl 47 appearance, Colin Kaepernick continues to await the chance to play football again. But it didn't end there.
Former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick still has support inside of National Football League locker rooms despite not playing since 2016, according to The Athletic. Two players voted no and two players issued a "no comment" on the subject.
In a survey done by The Athletic, NFL defenders voted anonymously on a number of categories pertaining to quarterbacks around the league, including most overrated, most underrated, best rookie, etc. Another 18 percent voted for Nathan Peterman who put up historically poor numbers whenever he took the field. Three players specifically noted that if Kaepernick were to be signed to a roster "he'd be a backup".
