Manchester City needs someone to replace the ageing Fernandinho.

De Jong is unsure of where he'll be playing his football next season but is focused exclusively on helping Ajax wrestle the Dutch league title from PSV Eindhoven's clutches.

'I want to finish this season well with Ajax, ' he added.

Barcelona are believed to view De Jong as the long-term successor to Sergio Busquets, as the pair share a similar skill set. But a certain French club called PSG might have other ideas.

De Jong's agent Ali Dursan has now poured cold water over any chance of a January switch, reiterating that the former Willem II man is contracted to the Eredivisie outfit.

De Jong has been compared to Dutch great Johan Cruyff in terms of his talent, even if his specific skillset means he is not the same kind of player.

Reports emerged on Friday that Paris Saint-Germain had jumped the queue in a the race for De Jong's signature, but Salihamidzic revealed that Bayern, who beat Nurnberg 3-0 on Saturday, also hold an interest.

In an interview with The Guardian on Thursday, De Jong admitted he is uncertain over where his future lies. 'Then we will see.

Hasan Salihamidzic, who is sporting director at the Allianz Arena, told reporters when quizzed about De Jong: "He's a good player, no doubt about that".

"Maybe I'll stay for another year, maybe I'll leave, but I am not sure".

"But that's been the case for a long time now".

"His vision and the quality of his passing that breaks the lines make him very valuable, especially because he also intercepts a considerable amount of balls".

"Each player must personally make his choice".
