Frisco is about 20 miles north of Dallas. It doesn't materially change much as it relates to pro or major championship golf, but it is interesting. As Sports City, USA, we're thrilled to partner with another world-class brand like the PGA of America.
"We also felt we had great partners, with the city, Omni Stillwater Woods, and Hunt Realty".
Along with the PGA Championships, the PGA of America said the courses will host two KPMG Women's PGA Championships and possibly a Ryder Cup (the earliest date for that would be 2040).
The organisation is relocating its headquarters from Palm Beach Country, Florida, to a 600-acre site in the north Dallas suburb that will also include a short course and practice areas, as well as office space, a hotel and conference centre, a retail village and parks and open space. That lease will increase two percent after the fifth year of the development agreement. Omni Hotels & Resorts will own and operate the resort.
To elevate educational opportunities for students in majors related to sports entertainment management, UNT and the PGA of America signed a memorandum of understanding on education, research and branding plans for both parties on Wednesday. It takes a team to put anything like this together, and Frisco is a city of teams. "Omni is known for its elevated service and amenities, including golf, and this resort, alongside the headquarters of the PGA of America, promises to be a first-class development that will attract thousands of people per year".
What about the Ryder Cup? "The opportunities available to students in Frisco ISD are simply unmatched in Texas and across the nation".
Two 18-hole championship courses are part of the development and scheduled to open in 2022. The hotel, convention center, and other facilities are expected to open within six months after.
However, the first major tournament slated for Texas is the 2023 Senior PGA Championship.
