The Outer Worlds certainly looks like it follows Obsidian's storytelling linage, presenting what appears to be a story-driven open-world RPG set in a world with a retro-futuristic approach to space travel. Though numerous games revealed at the event were smaller indie titles or "AA" games, they made up for their lower budgets with unique settings, intriguing gameplay mechanics, and pure passion on the part of the developers speaking about them.

Role-playing fans will recognise that the developers at work here have some considerable experience in the genre, as Obsidian made Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds is being led by Fallout co-creator Tim Cain and original artist Leonard Boyarsky.

Bethesda has yet another new rival as the makers of Fallout: New Vegas reveal the first trailer for their new sci-fi game. Your character awakens from hibernation, from there, you'll explore the colony, get to know the settlers, resolve conflicts and try to overcome the various threats coming your way.

These are for Spacer's Choice and Auntie Cleo's.

In a tweet published earlier this week, Geoff Keighley (presenter and driving force behind the massive show) announced there would be no less than TEN new game announcements at the show. It also seems to feature companions and first-person shooter combat that again doesn't seem all that dissimilar to Fallout.
