The 40-year-old will be the first driver to race for Ganassi with a NASCAR Cup title to his name.

"I had opportunities to drive [for other teams]; they just weren't opportunities I wanted", McMurray said during the last race weekend of the 2018 season at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November.

"I would like to thank Stewart-Haas for 5 fantastic years driving the #41", Busch wrote, in part, on Twitter. Busch will replace Jamie McMurray, who has driven the vehicle since 2010.

The 2004 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion has taken his Monster Energy sponsorship to Ganassi and will drive the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro, replacing veteran Jamie McMurray. Busch will compete in his 20th season in the MENCS during the 2019 campaign.

· A Monster Lifestyle: Refusing to acknowledge the traditional, Monster Energy supports the scene and sport.

· A Monster Career: Kurt Busch is an accomplished veteran in the MENCS, both as a race victor (30) and a series champion (2004).

According to ESPN, the deal with CGR is a one-year agreement as the 2019 season could be Busch's final season racing full-time.

He also won the 2017 Daytona 500 for team owners Gene Haas and Tony Stewart. He also has five Xfinity Series victories and four Truck Series triumphs.

"Tanner is a very intelligent and motivated young man, and I am very excited to what he can accomplish during his rookie season", said team owner, Victor Obaika. Kurt has been a Monster Energy athlete for several years now and we were glad to see him team up with another strong team. "Along with Monster Energy, winning races, and competing at the highest level, it's what we are all about". "He is a former NASCAR Cup Series champion and Daytona 500 victor and I believe still has a burning desire to win races and compete for a championship". Ganassi's forward-thinking approach is why I have chose to commit all my years of Monster Energy Cup experience to CGR. "In addition, getting to work with and represent a brand like Monster Energy makes it even that much more exciting". "Let's win, let's have fun". I've always believed he's one of the most talented drivers on this planet.
