Canadian actress Sandra Oh and USA comedian Andy Samberg will co-host the 2019 Golden Globe Awards in January, organizers said in a statement on Wednesday.

Oh and Samberg will "bring wit, charm and style to a room filled with the very best of film and television", Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement.

"We're excited to welcome Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg as co-hosts of Hollywood's Party of the Year", said HFPA President Meher Tatna.

The three-hour telecast will air live on NBC coast to coast Sunday, January 6 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from The Beverly Hilton.

Samberg is no stranger to NBC's airwaves, having been a mainstay on "Saturday Night Live" from 2005 to 2012.

Earlier this year, NBC closed a deal with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and Dick Clark Productions to keep the annual Golden Globe Awards at the network for at least another eight years.

The two celebrities will be first-time hosts for the Golden Globes, which honour television and film. But as we patiently wait for the star-studded ceremony, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will be announcing this year's nominees on Thursday.

Isan Elba, daughter of Idris Elba, will be the 2019 Golden Globes Ambassador.

Samberg is a two-time Golden Globe Award victor for Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Oh won a Golden Globe in 2006 for her performance on Grey's Anatomy.
