Google might be prepping a couple of new lower end smartphones, if some "fishy" details revealed its latest ARCore Android package (APK) are indication. But basing everything on the fact that the codenames are the type of fish leaves room for doubt, which is duly noted in the report. The phone is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 710 processor and is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2019.
While the ARCore is frequently updated with new features and a list of devices that support AR, the inclusion of the devices indicate that the launch might happen soon.
This doesn't necessarily confirm that Sargo is another Google phone, but how many manufacturers name their devices after fish? Back in June, reliable leaker Roland Quandt tweeted that Google was working on a mobile device that would use the mid-range Snapdragon 710.
Google traditionally names its Pixel phones after fish, and both of these names are types of fish.
So we can assume Bonito is sort of like the XL device while Sargo is the non-XL device.
We would however take all of this with a pinch of salt for now, as there's still not much to go on and this would be the first time Google has made a mid-range phone.
