California gunman stopped shooting to post online, officials say

Dad's last words to firstborn son

Twelve Dead After Mass Shooting At California Bar's College Student Night

Offering a horrifying illustration of just how pervasive gun violence is in America, Susan Orfanos said her son survived the Las Vegas festival shooting last October that left over 50 people dead-making it the deadlist mass shooting in modern USA history.

She said she wanted Congress "to pass gun control so no one else has a child that doesn't come home". The father said he had learned his son did not make it out of the bar on Wednesday night. "You know you can't do that!'"

Even the gunman who killed her son apparently ridiculed America's tendency to send "thoughts and prayers" to grieving families.

Kelly, a Marine, was able to escape out the back with friends. After the shooting was over, Kelly said he and another Marine friend helped victims alongside first responders. Two of his friends were killed in the shooting.

Ventura County sheriff's Sgt. Ron Helus died of gunshot wounds he suffered trying to stop gunman Ian David Long, who authorities say opened fire in a packed country music bar, killing 12 before police believe he turned the gun on himself Wednesday night.

"A lot of people in the Route 91 situation go here", Gunn said.

But implementation of the ban was blocked by a lawsuit filed by the California Rifle and Pistol Association, the state branch of the National Rifle Association, or NRA, and five Calfornia residents, media reports said.

That message, along with others previously posted by Long, were removed by the various social media platforms following the shooting. "I can't believe I'm saying this again".

"I just came to see if there's anything I can do", Coaly said.

Authorities haven't determined a motive.

The shooting happened at the Borderline Bar & Grill, a popular country music bar with college students. At 12:00 this morning I was informed that my unbelievable brother was taken down by the shooter as well as his good friend Jake Dunham. On his other arm Thursday, he still had his wristband from the California bar. A gunman shooting from the 32nd floor of a hotel and casino with high power weapons killed 58 people. "To save other people".

"Life is fragile", Johnston said, his voice choking. I don't know what was going through his head when he wrote this. "Everyone got up. I was trampled", one witness told Fox News. You're always picking up on social cues.

Orfanos was not the only Las Vegas shooting survivor at the Borderline Bar and Grill. Kelly said he'll be looking to God for comfort in the coming weeks and months. "I didn't know [about] PTSD, but his girlfriend would kind of ask him about things going on with him, because he'd get really upset sometimes and kind of shut down and he wouldn't want to talk about it to people". "I'm here for a reason". Fifty to 60 families gathered at the Thousand Oaks Teen Center in search of missing loved ones.
