Final Fantasy XV DLC Episodes Canceled, Tabata Leaves Square Enix

Final Fantasy 15 Dawn of the Future

Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer: Comrades Launches This December

The company already has plans on re-releasing the Comrades content as a standalone multiplayer experience on December 12th for the PS4 and Xbox One as Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer: Comrades, and will also update the PC version of the game with the new multiplayer content to keep the version parity in check.

Back in April, we were told there'd be four pieces of DLC coming for the 2016 game, with episodes called Ardyn, Aranea, Luna and Noctis. The rest of the DLC has been scrapped.

Square Enix held a Final Fantasy XV live stream to make some important announcements about the title, heading it up with the announcement that Game Director Hajime Tabata was resigning from Luminous Productions and Square Enix.

Episode Ardyn, which takes place 30 years before the main story, will still be released and a teaser trailer was shown. Developer Tabata thanked the game's loyal fans, and announced that he plans to pursue new projects and will start his own business.

Tabata hasn't announced what he will be doing next but Luminous Productions will continue to exist under Square Enix.

"In regards to my next endeavours and near future, I have a project that I truly wish to solidify as my next challenge after Final Fantasy XV", Tabata's statement read. We'll see what's next for Square Enix and Luminous Productions soon enough, so stay tuned for that, but head down to the comments section in the meantime to let us know if you were looking forward to the Final Fantasy 15 episodes that will now no longer see the light of day. "For that reason, I have made a decision to leave my current position and start my own business in order to achieve my goal", he explained. Ardyn is planned to launch next March, but the other three have been scrapped entirely.

Finally, fans will be happy to hear that Final Fantasy XV will be getting a new cross-promotion event with Final Fantasy XIV Online dubbed "Adventurer From Another World".

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is available now worldwide for PlayStation 4, and Dissidia Final Fantasy is available in Japanese arcades.
