The Croatian defender knows Gers have two hard games to come at home to Villarreal before they travel to Rapid Vienna, and speaking to RangersTV in the Otkritie Arena, he said: "We are still in the game - we have five points and we have Villarreal and also a hard game away against Rapid who are quite similar to Spartak".
Rangers, held 0-0 at home by Spartak two weeks ago, led in the fifth minute when Roman Eremenko turned into his own net, but Lorenzo Melgarejo soon levelled with a close-range header.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was a little bit perplexed after his side's 4-3 defeat to Spartak Moscow in the Europa League tonight.
Allan McGregor made a sensational save to keep out Hanni's improvised flick, but Luiz Adriano was perfectly placed to nod in his side's third equaliser.
'I'm very disappointed with the result, ' said Gerrard. You saw two sides of our performance.
"So we are still in the game and we need to win these games to go to the Last 32."
"But for me, football is about levels and if you don't defend properly and you don't do the basics well enough, high-level players and high-level teams normally punish you and that was the case tonight, so we are disappointed with the result".
He added: "It was a really unlucky game for us and we conceded four stupid goals". But we had a bad five minutes and were punished for it. I'm bitterly disappointed with how we defended tonight'.
Gerrard added: "We should have scored four goals, but that's another story".
Gerrard was alluding to a disallowed goal by Alfredo Morelos just before half-time with Rangers 3-2 ahead, and replays suggested the striker was onside.
"We lost because of ourselves, defensively, but on another night we could've come away with a fourth goal".
