In just eight days it's managed to sell 17 million copies, which is more than Red Dead Redemption managed to date.
The most infamous have been from YouTuber Shirrako, who posted such charmingly named videos as "Red Dead Redemption 2 - Beating up annoying feminist" and "Red Dead Redemption 2 - Deporting A Mexican".
According to a recent investor call, it won't be too long before we're all plunged into such chaotic, six-shooter warfare, as it has been stated by Take 2 CEO Strauss Zelnick that Red Dead online is expected to begin its beta-testing period at the end of November. Red Dead Redemption 2 is now sitting in commercial history as the biggest opening weekend for any form of entertainment and over $725 million in retail sell-through in just its first three days out in the wild. "Eventually I think we will be in a cross-platform world, for a lot of titles", Zelnick says, adding that Microsoft are "basically already there [for cross-play]" and that "the closed system walls are coming down".
Also bordering on the obscene, the perennial Grand Theft Auto V has now passed 100 million copies sold. Thanks to the sales of "Red Dead Redemption 2", and a strong second quarter performance, Take-Two raised their financial outlook for fiscal 2019, which ends on March 31.
