Back in September, a ratings leak in Korea potentially revealed a December 2018bPlayStation 4 release for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Don't know when it's coming out, but it's already on Sony servers, hosting the game image and Content-ID for the psn store. (Hat tip to ResetERA forum member Taker34 for discovering the posts on Monday.) The images in question are linked to an apparent digital game ID code, and they reflect two types of logos found in the PS4's interface: the icon that appears in a user's library, and the splash screen that appears while the game is loading.
For those of you who aren't aware, PUBG is a battle royale multiplayer phenomenon made by Brendan Greene, whom is arguably the godfather of battle royale games today with his official mods for both DayZ and Arma III. If Microsoft's console exclusivity deal had been for a year, this timing makes sense, as PUBG was first introduced to the Xbox One Preview program in December 2017. It is believed that this freebie offer is somehow tied to further PUBG announcements expected at the show.
Do you care that PUBG may be coming to PS4? It's unclear how long Microsoft plans to run the promotion for so if you want to try out PUBG on the Xbox, you should probably claim your free copy ASAP. In between, PUBG Mobile was released on Android and iOS.
