Emma Thompson is officially a Dame!
The 59-year-old star arrived at the palace sporting an emerald green pantsuit fashioned with a badge from the Fawcett Society, which raises awareness for equal pay, and white sneakers ― a welcome departure from the typical royal garb.
"I've worked really hard in what I believe in", said Gordy, who was recognised for her services to the arts and people with disabilities.
"If you're first up, you have to be more formal on such an occasion", the Love Actually star said, "but he's looking wonderful and doing so well". News. "He said, 'This day isn't about me, it's about you'".
"I love Prince William", she gushed.
Thompson is a longtime friend of Prince Charles and the royal family.
Though the two-time Oscar victor has known the honor was coming since seeing her name on Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Honors List last June, she was presented with her investiture pin at Buckingham Palace by the prince on Wednesday.
Thompson reportedly plans to use the honor to shine a light on fighting child hunger around the holidays, as well as furthering causes that are close to her heart as a self-described "card-carrying feminist" and "human rights advocate".
Thompson's husband, actor and producer Greg Wise, 31-year-old son Tindyebwa and 18-year-old daughter Gaia attended the ceremony.
