A western Wisconsin sheriff says two people found dead in home of a missing teenager are the girl's parents.
Miami police say a witness reported seeing a girl fitting Jayme's description in a black Ford Explorer with two well-dressed, bearded men at a gas station Monday afternoon.
Officials wrote in the amber alert that she "is considered endangered".
Police were called to her home around 1 a.m. Monday. Jayme was not inside the residence. Fitzgerald said authorities looked into the tip, but by Tuesday afternoon, they concluded the information was not credible.
"We don't know their cause of death right now, but there was some gunshots at the scene".
Jayme Closs is 5 feet tall, weighs 100 pounds, has green eyes and Blond or Strawberry Blond hair.
Fitzgerald told reports that there were gunshots, but declined to say if that's how the couple died. Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line at 1-855-744-3879. Drone and infrared technology were used in attempting to determine her whereabouts, he said.
Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, speaking at a press conference, described Jayme was a sweet and shy girl who enjoys dancing and sports. Soon after, sheriff's deputies discovered the bodies of James and Denise Closs.
Authorities do not consider Jayme a suspect in her parents' death at this time. Their 13 year-old daughter Jayme Closs was missing. Police did not indicate if there were possible suspects in the case, or whether they believe Jayme had left on her own or was kidnapped.
The FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are helping in the search.
"I'm hoping and praying with God's help and the community that we all rally around each other and help find this girl and bring her home", one parent from Jayme's school said.
The FBI announced its Child Abduction Response Deployment (CARD) team is now on the ground in Barron County assisting in the search for Jayme.
Fitzgerald explained, "This is a odd one but we do believe Jamie needs to be located and we do feel she's in danger to some degree and that's our focus now, that's where our efforts and being produced".
Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating Jayme.
