Although the Pixels have barely made a dent in the market since their debut two years ago, Google uses them to highlight what it considers to be the best features of its Android operating system. And it so happens that each has a brand new flagship out this season. And while you'll love the big 6.3-inch screen, front-facing speakers or Google Assistant, that's not all these phones have to offer.
Past Pixel phones may have fallen short of expectations, but the company is finally figuring out what consumers want out of a smartphone.
But Google is undercutting Apple on price. You only have 64GB and 128GB storage options with no option to expand the storage. From a spec point of view, yes.
Both phones go on sale in the United Kingdom on November 1, although they're available for pre-order now. The usual caveat here applies, however: more RAM does not necessarily equal a faster phone. Speaking of speeds, when we look at the CPU's in each phone there is simply no comparison.
Samsung took at the Google Pixel's notch which just like the iPhone houses the camera, earpiece and other sensors found at the top of the device.The notch on the Pixel 3 XL has come in for some criticism, Samsung meanwhile, has steadfastly refused to put a notch at the top of its handsets. "When you get an incoming call from an unknown caller, just tap "Screen call" to let the Google Assistant help out".
The primary difference is the size of the phones. The iPhone XS does away with the Touch ID fingerprint scanner in favor of a facial recognition security system.
It's not clear exactly which phones use this new backup functionality, but Android 9 Pie is one of the requirements. Like always, Google has packed the Pixel 3 with tons of cool tricks to take advantage of the beefy Pixel Visual Core and its second-to-none AI- and ML-powered processing. You see a transcript of the response on the screen. Both phones also feature wireless charging-a nice touch. One with standard lens and the other with wide angle lens. Both front cameras also record 1080p video.
Until now, Pixel owners haven't been able to use an external microphone with the default camera app. This is very frustrating and could be a deal breaker for some.
The iPhone XR and the Pixel 3 have almost identical rear cameras from a hardware standpoint. Google doesn't have a dual-lens camera on the back of its new phones though, so the company's engineers created an enhanced digital zoom feature that's meant to provide zoomed photos that are just as clear as photos captured using optical zoom.
The Pixel 3 starts at $799, or monthly payments of $33.29.
The iPhone XS starts at $999, or monthly payments of $49.91.
These Smart Displays will be getting feature parity with Home Hub including the option to include your Smart Displays in your multi-room audio setup.
