Tensions continue to rise between the USA and Venezuela after President Nicolas Maduro claimed the Trump administration is out for blood.
"The White House tasked Bogota with killing Maduro", the Venezuelan president said in a statement broadcast on radio and television.
The White House accused Maduro's government on Wednesday of involvement in the death of a jailed Venezuelan politician whom authorities say killed himself but whom opposition parties say was murdered. "They will not even touch a single hair of mine, because God and the people of Venezuela protect me".
Venezuela's opposition says Maduro lobs ludicrous accusations at enemies to deflect from his own incompetence.
Maduro did not give an explanation for his accusations and did not provide any evidence.
Maduro contended that he is the victim of an "economic war" led by US -backed adversaries.
Washington has imposed sanctions on Venezuela, denouncing Maduro as a dictator who has quashed human rights and triggered an economic meltdown.
"From the United States, they have chose to kill me - they have given the order from the White House that Maduro be killed", he proclaimed.
The United Nations has said it will investigate the death.
"From the United States, they have made a decision to kill me", said Maduro.
Venezuelan officials have claimed Alban committed suicide after being accused of being involved in the alleged August fourth assassination attempt against Maduro.
