The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Ryan Coogler will return to write and direct a sequel to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's breakout hit Black Panther. While many of us aren't surprised that the blockbuster is expected to release a Part Two, production could start as early as 2019.
"One of the favorite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two", Feige said of the sequel.
With T'Challa having fallen victim to Thanos' deadly finger-snap, Black Panther 2 remains in a curious position with no one now holding the mantle of Black Panther, though the events of Avengers 4 will likely have a large impact on the plot direction of the film.
Now that the beloved director is back on the job, it's hard to control our excitement. The movie made over $1 billion at the box office and is already one of the top selling Blu-ray movies of 2018. It is unknown if "Black Panther 2" will now become his primary focus if he will still tries to squeeze that smaller film in. The director is now working on Michael B Jordan-starrer Wrong Answer, and is also the executive producer of LeBron James's sequel of Space Jam and Steven Caple Jr's Creed II. Perhaps Killmonger could return stronger (and angrier) than ever, or maybe Kraven the Hunter will take a break from terrorizing Spider-Man to prey on Black Panther.
