Netflix has pulled the plug on Iron Fist. Other Marvel shows have seen better fates at Netflix, with "Jessica Jones", "Luke Cage", and "Daredevil" receiving critical acclaim and the latter releasing its third season on October 19.
In news that is probably shocking to no one, Marvel and Netflix's Iron Fist will not be returning for a third season. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners".
News of the cancellation comes on the heels of a second season - which was released on September 7. We're thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we've shared on this series. In a statement, they said "Marvel's Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal 'Iron Fist' will live on".
Apparently a much-improved second season was not enough for Marvel and Netflix to order a third season and the story of Danny Rand could end here, depending on what the character's involvement in future Defenders series might be. That "other" being the streaming service that Disney is expected to launch next year, which already has series on Marvel fan favorites Loki and the Scarlet Witch in the pipeline, with Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen expect to reprise their big screen roles. Finn Jones may yet play Danny Rand again. However, it may find a revival on another streaming service. It also indicates that Luke Cage season 3 will likely be picked up "any day now".
