Supreme Court pick Kavanaugh: I will not not let false accusations push me out

Kavanaugh said Monday on Fox News Channel, "I've never sexually assaulted anyone".

Despite their public projections of unity, Trump and his aides behind the scenes see Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) as having been too accommodating to Christine Blasey Ford, the California professor who has alleged that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when he was 17, by delaying her hearing until Thursday. The truth is I've never sexually assaulted anyone.

Mr Kavanaugh said Dr Ford's friend does not remember being at a party with him, nor has anyone corroborated the accuser's story.

The 53-year-old complainant said she had attended Yale University with Kavanaugh, The New Yorker reported on Sunday.

Demonstrators protest against the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be a Supreme Court Justice outside of the office of US Senator Susan Collins, Republican of ME, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, September 24, 2018. "I know my lifelong record, and I'm not going to let false accusations drive me out of this process", he added, asserting amid calls for him to drop out, "I'm not going anywhere".

"I know he's going to stand by me", Kavanaugh said.

Kavanaugh is considered more conservative than Kennedy and liberals have feared that if he is confirmed, the Supreme Court will shift considerably to the right.

"I can still see his face, and his hips coming forward, like when you pull up your trousers", she was quoted as saying by the New Yorker.

The White House is approaching Ford's potential testimony with trepidation, nervous that an emotional performance might not just damage Kavanaugh's chances but could further energize female voters to turn out against Republicans in November.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minnesota, said that fellow members on the Senate Judiciary Committee are being "shut out" from getting any information from any other witnesses and accusers of Judge Brett Kavanaugh as the committee plans to move ahead with the confirmation process to send Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court.

Ramirez admitted she had been drinking and has gaps in her memories. They want the FBI to reopen its background investigation of Kavanaugh and look into the allegations against him. He spoke out a day after a former Yale University classmate said he once exposed himself to her at a party. Ford has accused Kavanaugh of attempting to rape her when both were in high school and at a party in the early 1980s; she came forward in an article published September 16.

After a week of back and forth, in addition to political gamesmanship, Ford is scheduled to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday morning.

Kavanaugh has been the subject of mounting sexual misconduct allegations in recent weeks.

"There is now a frenzy to come up with something - anything - that will block this process and a vote on my confirmation from occurring", Kavanaugh said in his statement.

'This is a con game being played by Democrats, ' he said, handing waving in the air as he complained about Kavanaugh's treatment.

Trump's instinct since the Ford allegations first surfaced over a week ago has been to defend his Supreme Court pick and try to muscle his nomination through.

But, she stresses, "It has no bearing on the ability to commit sexual assault - or be a victim". I understand college very well, being number one in your class, I understand a lot of things, ' the president said. "His family has suffered", Trump said. Neither Dr. Blasey Ford nor Judge Kavanaugh is on trial.

The tweets challenging Kavanaugh called his virginity defense a "non sequitur", and one that "says a lot about how he views women even beyond his guilt or innocence", and that his virginity and the assault allegations are "not mutually exclusive".
