The 49-year-old Friends star, who played Chandler Bing on the popular NBC television sitcom, revealed he has spent most of the summer in hospital following surgery to fix a ruptured bowel.
In his first tweet since March, Matthew wrote: 'Three months in a hospital bed. "He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals", his rep said at the time.
Matthew Perry has spent the last three months in hospital after surgery for a potentially life-threatening condition.
A gastrointestinal perforation or ruptured bowel occurs when a hole develops in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract and can be caused by illnesses such as Crohn's disease, colitis and appendicitis.
Details on Perry's surgery are not known but he has been very open in the past about his struggles with alcohol abuse, which can contribute to a digestive health issue.
In 2013, he told People, "I couldn't stop". "I shouldn't be getting an award; Phoenix House should be getting an award".
Well now, based on a tweet the Friends star sent late yesterday, we know that he's still in the hospital after the surgery, and may be there some time longer!
Alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer, he was one of the most recognisable faces on TV.
Friends ended in 2004, but fans rejoiced when all 10 series were brought to Netflix in January this year.
Matthew previously said he would not want to take part in a Friends reunion because it would "ruin" the sitcom's ending.
The Friends actor told fans on Twitter that he had been in a hospital bed for three months, with a rep confirming he underwent an operation for a gastrointestinal perforation.
