New England Patriots rookie offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn tore his Achilles in Thursday night's preseason win over the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Wynn suffered the injury then limped to the injury tent before getting carted off the field.

Wynn made his preseason debut on Thursday night, but left the field on just his second drive of the game.

It has not been the luckiest preseason for former Dawgs in New England.

New England selected Wynn with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2018 National Football League draft. Trent Brown appears to have won the left tackle job vacated by the offseason free agent departure of Nate Solder.

Fans had high expectations for the 23rd overall pick this season, but said expectations will have to be shelved until next season. Returning veteran LaAdrian Waddle remains as the likely top backup, with guys like Cole Croston, Ulrick John and Matt Tobin also in the mix.

Fellow 2018 Patriots first-rounder, running back Sony Michel, meanwhile, remains out with a knee injury.
