Peter Simon tells The Boston Globe he was on an assignment for The Martha's Vineyard Times at Lola's in Oak Bluffs on Wednesday when Murray accosted him, swore at him and threatened him.

Actor and comedian Bill Murray was accused of slamming a photographer against a door at a restaurant in Martha's Vineyard.

Murray's entertainment lawyer didn't immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.

"He looked like he was ready to strangle me", said Simon. At one point, Simon claims, Murray came by his table and poured water on him and his camera. "He treated me like the scum of the earth".

Murray was described as "visibly upset" when spoke to police about the encounter and claimed Simon was "taking pictures of him and harassing him while he was quietly minding his business".

Simon, who is singer Carly Simon's brother, said the band invited him and he was not there to take pictures of Murray. He said he did not recognize Murray at first, adding, "He doesn't look anything like he used to look". Further, the owner has banned Simon from the restaurant, where he'll be reported for trespassing if he ever enters again, although Simon (who wasn't injured) is considering pressing criminal charges against the Stripes star.
