Cam Newton, Kelvin Benjamin speak prior to preseason game

Bills receiver Kelvin Benjamin's feud with former teammate Panthers quarterback Cam Newton continued before and during Carolina's preseason-opening 28-23 win against Buffalo on Thursday night

Carolina Panthers: Top players to watch against Buffalo Bills

Cam Newton and Kelvin Benjamin addressed their feud in what seems to be the most awkward manner possible.

It was a fortuitous matchup in the preseason opener after the wideout in the same interview this week called the Panthers, his former team, "a bad fit from the get-go".

In the video below, it shows Newton going to shake Kelvin Benjamin's hand and Benjamin refusing. The receiver's numbers didn't improve after being thrown into a passing game that ranked 20th in the National Football League last season, finishing his first campaign with the Bills with 217 yards on 16 catches with one touchdown and two games missed with a torn meniscus.

After Benjamin's comments were published, McDermott expressed disapproval, saying Sunday (via ESPN), "There's a time and a place - I'm not saying specific to what comments were made - there's a time and place for things like that". I don't know, man ... "It just felt like I wasn't in that position". Any other accurate quarterback like Rodgers or Eli Manning or Big Ben - anybody! - quarterbacks with knowledge, that know how to place a ball and give you a better chance to catch the ball. This was not one of them.

The two met face-to-face for the first time before the two teams faced off in their preseason game on Thursday night and according to Jourdan Rodrigue of the Charlotte Observer, the meeting didn't go so well. "I should've never went to Carolina".

Benjamin may have walked away from the tense exchange with Newton, but he was happy run into the end zone shortly thereafter.
