Sony revealed the 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro on the PlayStation Blog today, a special new design for the 4K/HDR ready console and accessories made in celebration of 500 million PlayStation systems sold across 24 years in the business.
This PlayStation 4 Pro is pretty cool looking if I'm being honest. The system also comes a translucent 500 Million Edition DualShock controller. Each system features a commemorative copper plate on the front, and etched on it is the limited edition serial number. The asking price for this sexy beast is $499.99.
500 million PlayStation consoles sold since the system launched in 2013 is an incredible feat.
In the United Kingdom you'll be able to pre-order the limited-edition console, gold headset, and wireless control online from 10am on August 14 at Amazon, Game, Smyths Toys, ShopTo, Currys PC World and Very.
Alongside a transparent vertical stand, the package also includes a PlayStation Camera which doesn't feature a translucent chassis but still draped in similar dark blue colorway.
I'm not sure I'd run out and pick this up. Now, I wonder what the Billion Limited Edition PlayStation model will look like?
If you're going to pick one up, be prepared to plop down $499.99 - it's not exactly cheap, but it's also worth keeping in mind that Sony is only making 50,000 of these. And, for the very lucky few who can get them, we have a few "extra special" hardware units with serial numbers that commemorate important events in the history of PlayStation.
