President Donald Trump fired off on Twitter Friday night, targeting Los Angeles Laker LeBron James over his interview earlier in the week with CNN's Don Lemon.

"Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, (CNN presenter) Don Lemon".

LeBron James has made the playoffs every year since the 2005-06 campaign.

James said Trump is creating a wedge by using situations like National Football League player Colin Kaepernick kneeling during the anthem and "uninviting" NBA star Steph Curry to the White House.

Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns urged President Trump to get off Twitter and "get stuff done for our country".

James said he chose to open the school, located down the street from his high school, because he knows exactly what young students are going through.

The Cleveland Cavaliers star has repeatedly clashed with the President, and on Monday said he would refuse to ever sit face to face with him.

Silver, speaking in Johannesburg to assembled media on Saturday ahead of the 2018 game, said in response to questions about James' intentions: "The way the Africa game works is that the players who come are volunteers". He sits down with @donlemon at the opening of his new elementary school for at-risk children in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

James went on to explain that if players don't like the role which a team has asked them to play, they should go and play an individual sport instead.

When Lemon pressed James if he would consider running for president, he eventually said, "Let's see first".

And of course, no cycle of Trump shade is complete without Pete Souza, the former White House photographer for President Barack Obama, weighing in with a deep cut from his archives. "I believe there's someone else out there".

"I think (racism's) always been there".

James backed Democrat Hillary Clinton during the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
