Saudi Arabia were under increasing pressure and Smolov's deflected strike was clawed away by keeper Abdullah Al-Mayouf when play continued after an offside had been missed.

Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup will get underway at 6:00 p.m. local time (15:00 GMT) later on Thursday with the match between the hosts and Saudi Arabia at Moscow's 81,000-seater Luzhniki Stadium.

In stoppage time, Russian Federation scored two more goals as Cheryshev got his second of the match with a beauty as he scored from outside of his left foot, while Golovin rounded off the game by scoring from a free-kick. The hosts did lose Alan Dzagoev to a serious-looking injury, though.

The FIFA World Cup 2018 Russian Federation v/s Saudi Arabia match will be telecast on Sony Ten and Sony Ten HD, Sony Ten 3 and Sony Ten 3 HD, Sony ESPN.

Will Russia continue their dominance in second half or will Saudi make strong comeback.

In the second half Artem Dzyuba scored in the 71st minute with a fine header shortly after coming on, Cheryshev floated the ball into the top corner with an insouciant swish of his left boot from the edge of the Saudi penalty area in the 90th minute and Aleksandr Golovin converted a free-kick in added time. Denis Cheryshev enters the match. But with 43 minutes gone they did just that, substitute Cheryshev superbly getting away from a challenge and thumping his finish high into the net. Germany enters the tournament as the defending champion after winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The match is the first game of the tournament.

The Russia v/s Saudi Arabia World Cup 2018 match will take place on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
