The Stranger Things actress deleted her account on Wednesday after becoming the target of a wave of satirically homophobic memes. Brown is a supporter of LGBTQ rights and an anti-bullying advocate; she publicly displayed a GLAAD Together movement pin to the MTV Movie and TV awards previous year.
There has been a backlash against the meme, especially since Brown deleted her account, with one user writing that "pretending millie bobby brown, a literal child, is a violent homophobe for memes is f**king disgusting and not amusing at all".
"You could genuinely cause so much damage to her reputation and it's weird as f**k". "Most of these memes were made by the gays so don't worry, Susan!" Also, in the same year, she wore an LGBT pin to the MTV Awards.
Brown only deleted her main Twitter account.
Before her latest social media issues, the Inquisitr reported that Brown recently drew criticism over posting a picture of a moonlight kiss between her and her boyfriend, Jacob Sartorius. The hashtag had first appeared last November and has since resurfaced this month for Pride.
The meme is thought to have originated as an inside joke from within the LGBTQ community.
