Jose Mourinho says the Russian team will be under "huge pressure" when they open their home World Cup against Saudi Arabia in Moscow on Thursday, but has backed the hosts to come away with a win.

The North Americans pledged their tournament would generate an $11 billion profit for Federation Internationale de Football Association - greater than any previous World Cup finals - a financial shot in the arm for world soccer's governing body, which has been rocked by a corruption and bribery scandal ensnaring top officials.

Canada failed in its lone previous World Cup bid - to host the 1986 tournament after Colombia pulled out as host. Teams are expected to arrive at least five days before their first World Cup game and would remain at least throughout the group stage, except for the dates immediately before and after match days. The stadium is slated for several upgrades starting in about 2022, regardless of whether Edmonton hosts the 2026 World Cup.

USA venues include the Pasadena Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, venue for the 1994 World Cup final.

Shanks is gearing up for this year's tournament in Moscow, which will be broadcast in the Fox Sports, and will take place in 11 cities across Russian Federation.

Potential host cities include New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Mexico City, and Montreal; but not Chicago, after the Windy City pulled out of the North American bid. The US, however, hosted the country on its own merit in 1994, while Mexico have twice before organised the tournament, in 1970 and in 1986.

"When they help us fight against corruption, of course, we are pleased", Infantino said.

Although it will be the first World Cup to be hosted by three countries, most matches will be played in the United States.

Morocco FA president Fouzi Lekjaa said: "I would like to reaffirm the determination of my country, Morocco, to continue to work for football, to work for the youth and also to realise some day our dream to host the World Cup in Morocco". Most national teams prefer to establish their pre-World Cup training compounds away from their first-round group-game cities.

To prepare for the 2015 Women's World Cup, the stadium got new locker rooms, which are now used by visiting CFL teams, Jevne said.

The Slovenian has already publicly encouraged England to bid for the tournament either alone or as part of a joint British bid, and he repeated that message here. The two highest-ranked teams according to FIFA's rankings will receive byes, while the other four will play knockout games.

For a 48-team competition spread across the North American continent, the number of tune-up matches in the United States would likely increase significantly.
