The 58-year-old actor started his three-day jail sentence on Tuesday for failing to pay spousal support to his estranged wife Elvira Castle. At Schneider's February hearing, the judge reportedly ordered Schneider to transfer his Apple Valley property to Elvira and to resolve the property's tax liens. The judge also ruled Schneider had to resolve all tax lien issues against the property.
Moments before he handed himself in, Schneider told Fox News that he was "disheartened with the system" but would hold his head high during his jail time.
Luckily for the 57-year-old actor, who is now known for his role in Smallville, he was released from jail on Tuesday (June 12) after just serving five hours of his sentence due to overcrowding.
As previously reported, Schneider was taken to court over the spousal support in February of 2018.
Schneider played Bo Duke on the hit series from 1979 - 1985 as well as a handful of revivials in the early 2000s. He claims she spent $15,000 per month on their American Express card and put them both "in severe debt to commercial institutions, the IRS and the state government".
