Brace yourselves for this one. A 130-inch 4K screen lets all the players take aim on a rail shooter experience in the environment of the first Halo game.
During today's Inside Xbox show, Microsoft announced Halo: Fireteam Raven - an arcade shooter that will only be at Dave & Busters. The game itself looks like an entry into the familiar lightgun genre that allows up to four players to pick up their peripheral weapons and do battle against a variety of foes from the Halo universe. The titular Fireteam Raven are a group of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers who fight alongside Master Chief and the UNSC on the surface of Alpha Halo.
The real story here, though, is the cabinet itself. Up to four players can play the game at once, with each player taking control of a turret-mounted machine gun. You can even scan an available QR code to keep track of certain worldwide records in the game and create a kind of competitive atmosphere. "After years of development, it is now ready".
Eugene Jarvis, the CEO of Raw Thrills, states, "Halo: Fireteam Raven is without a doubt, the most spectacular arcade experience we've ever made", while 343 Industries' Head of Halo Transmedia, Kiki Wolfkill, says, "Arcade games are a wholly different challenge compared to console and PC gaming, and we've learned a tremendous amount as we worked with Raw Thrills to make this happen".
This project is entirely unexpected, but it is undoubtedly impressive.
Currently, Halo: Fireteam Raven does not have a release date, however, 343 Industries has stated that the game will be available sometime this summer exclusively at Dave and Buster.
