Lucasfilm has announced Star Wars Celebration will officially return next year in Chicago

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has been making the publicity rounds for Solo in the wake of the world premiere in Los Angeles and the Cannes Film Festival screening earlier this week.

Update: Following on from the initial publication of their article, Premiere have updated (via io9) with a clarification from a Lucasfilm rep. "'We would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian one day, but it's not relevant, it would be fun to tell the story of Han and Chewie...", Lucasfilm said in a statement.

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25.

The quote from Premiere reads as follows: "Nous adorerions raconter un jour une histoire consacrée à Lando Calrissian, mais ce n'est pas d'actualité". The publication quoted Kennedy stating that Lando's story would be the next one to be told in the franchise. "When they called me up there, I said, 'I don't know if I'm up for a fourth Star Wars movie, ' and they said, 'Well, what if it was Han?'"

Speaking yesterday, Kennedy said - according to Business Insider: "We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian". Well, it's not impossible that Lando's film could be in 2020, with Obi-Wan's standalone following in 2021, as ComicBook also acknowledges. Played by Donald Glover, the character brings the right amount of swagger and charm to Han Solo's origin story, and it sounds like that might be enough for him to get a Star Wars Story of his own.

For some reason, Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm are keeping their Sabacc cards to their chest on Kenobi, but for Lando Calrissian, they neglect in using their poker face, their poker face - muh muh muh muh.

So, we don't yet have a confirmed Lando movie.

Donald Glover's month keeps getting better.
